High strength: the shell needs to have sufficient mechanical strength to withstand installation, use of various external forces in the process, such as stretching, flattening, impact and bending, etc.
Corrosion resistance: the shell material should be able to resist chemical corrosion and be suitable for different environmental conditions, including humidity, salt spray, etc.
Waterproof performance: the shell should have good waterproof performance to prevent water intrusion into the box, affecting the reliability of the optical cable joints
Environmental impact resistance: able to withstand high and low temperature changes, ultraviolet radiation and other environmental factors to maintain stable performance.
Sealing performance: the shell should be able to maintain good sealing to prevent the intrusion of dust, moisture and other pollutants
Ageing resistance: the material should be ageing resistant to ensure that long-term outdoor use does not cause material ageing and performance degradation.
Flame retardant: In the event of fire, the shell material should have flame retardant properties to slow down the spread of fire.
Insulation: the shell should have good insulation properties to prevent electrical short circuit and leakage.
Fibre optic cable junction box shell material selection:
Reinforced plastic: such as modified PP (polypropylene), which has good physical and chemical properties, suitable for a variety of installation environments, such as overhead, holding poles, wall, manpower holes, pipelines and so on.
PC (polycarbonate): with very high impact strength and transparency, suitable for applications requiring transparent or semi-transparent housings.
ABS plastic: has good overall performance, including mechanical strength, hardness and processability, and is cost-effective.
